Specific Gravity: 0,42 g/cm³.This is another Southeast USA tree. It covers wide areas, and it is the most relevant pine in North America, with a height up to 39m. It tends to prune itself, so that the trunk stays clear, producing a beautiful soft wood, creamy beige, quite resinous, with similar uses to the Carolina Pine, but in smaller amounts. The needles are quite rigid, slightly twisted, 14-23 cm long, in bundles of three. The cones are slightly smaller, 8-13 cm long; they are almost sessile and prickly. It does not grow well in North-Europe. |
